There’s so much wasted youth in my past and I fear that children these days aren’t getting out enough. I know it’s a topic as tired and old as I feel, but hey it’s the internet (a.k.a. life draining machine,) and it popped into my head this morning in the shower so I thought I’d rant. When, and if, I have children I want to make sure they experience their little lives of carefree curiosity to the fullest. I do not plan on pressuring them and regaling them with much unwanted speeches of ‘back in my day’, instead I would simply just give them every opportunity to get out there and experience the world. The ‘world’ being a backyard, park or something along those lines in this case. I think parents these days just aren’t putting in the effort, It’s one thing to be a parent, another to be a ‘carer’ or to just simply scrape through it. I’m not having a jab at younger families, but my preference would be to have children when I’m mentally and financially secure, and when the family (relationship) I’m bringing them into is a happy and healthy one. This status would usually take a number of years to attain (in my case it would anyway) and that’s why i plan on waiting until I’m ready. Hopefully I won’t be that old, but you get the idea. I plan on teaching them anything they wish to know, and, hand in hand, walking with them through their precious ‘little years’. I hope that they will teach me a lot in return!
